➱ The part of the Milky Way galaxy in which we and all the things live is called the solar system.

There are billions of planet in the whole universe. But in solar system there are eight planets. These are, in order of increasing distance from the Sun.

➨ Names of eight planets.

  • 1.) Mercury (Budh) :- This is the closet planet to the Sun. We can see mercury from naked eyes just before sunrise and just after sunset.

  • 2.) Venus (Shukra) :- Venus is also the planet closet to the Earth and about of same size as Earth. It is the most brightest planet. It is also known as Morning star and Evening star. ( But it is a planet! )

  • 3.) Earth (Prithivi) :- This is the only planet where life is possible also it is only planet where water is found in liquid & oxygen is found in gaseous form. It is also knowm as blue planet due to availability of water in it.

  • 4.) Mars (Mangal) :- This planet is known as Red planet , it's colour is red due to presence of iron oxides in soil. There are two moons of this planet namely Deimos & Phobos.

  • 5.) Jupiter (Brihaspati) :- The largest planet of the solar system and also very cold due to its distance from the Sun. This planet's size is almost 1300 times of Earth. It has 79 moons.

  • 6.) Saturn (Shani) :- The second largest planet of solar system. It can be easily recognised by its rings that surround the planet. It has 82 moons. ( 2020 news ).

  • 7.) Uranus :- It is also the coldest planet and is much bigger than Earth. It has also rings around it made up of band of clouds. It has 27 known moons.

  • 8.) Neptune :- This planet is very cold and can only seen through a telescope. It has 14 moons.
