  • Anthropogenic means something which is related to human being, and generation of something by humans. Human beings interaction with nature is also one of the main causes of the occurrence of earthquakes.
  • The extraction of minerals which are deep underground, mining and blasting of rocks by dynamites for the construction of roads, nuclear explosion might lead to the occurrence of earthquakes and increase in the intensity of earthquakes.
  • Earthquakes occurring presently are the result of construction of dams and reservoirs.
  • Ex: The earthquake in Greece (1931) is attributed to Marathon dam construction (1929)
