India and USA have shared a diplomatic relationship for a long time. The relation has had problems due to USA supplying arms to Pakistan. During the Sino-Indian conflict, the USA sided with India and supplied arms to it, but the USA also supplied arms to Pakistan. The stand of President Nixon that India was the aggressor during the trouble in East Pakistan, had stained relations between the two.
