Answer:

Theory of Demographic Transition is a theory that throws light on changes in birth rate and death rate and consequently on the growth-rate of population.

Explanation:

Population growth leads to economic growth of the society.

If it is an under-developed society or is technologically backward, population growth would be low because earnings will be minimum for the unskilled society. Since, they would be doing more of manual work as there is no technology, they will be malnutrition and death rate will be higher as compared to a society with educated and people who use more technology. This is stage 1 of the phases of population growth.

For developing, second stage of population growth, countries death rate and birth rate are very high.

In contrast, in a developed society, difference between birth and death rate is quite low. This is stage 3.

Transitional stage is the stage in which population growth rate is very high and death rates are brought down using different methods. This is in-between stage of backward class people and skilled class people.

Society takes time to adjust and changes its behavior according to the new situation where there is prosperity and life span is longer, so there is population explosion during the transition period.
