The principle of hydropower is that the potential energy of the water stored at great heights in the dam is converted in to kinetic energy by allowing the water to flow at high speed. Then the kinetic energy of flowing water used to generate electricity.

Hydroelectricity simply means of producing electricity with the help of the water ....
Now , in the hydroelectric plant there is a turbine ... the electricity is produced only if turbine rotates and in the plants it is rotated by the water and hydroelectric plants mainly settle at dam , river and great source of water..
