Hindustan Music is completely based on Ragas. Like any other style of music instead of A B C# or Do Re Mi it is based on the same 9 notes of Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa-Dha-Ni.

Hindustani Music:

Hindustani classical music is the art music of northern regions of the Indian subcontinent. It may also be called North Indian classical music or Sastriya Saṅgit. Its origins date from the 12th century CE, when it diverged from Carnatic music, the classical tradition of southern regions of the Indian subcontinent.

It has seven swaras that is sa, ri,ga,ma,pa,dha,ni,sa.

The Hindustani Music is dependent on structrual notes called ragas.

Every raga has its own significance.Some are even used for treating diseases.
