Cells are classified into prokaryotic and eukaryotic on the basis of complexity of cells. If the nucleus of the cell is enclosed within nuclear memebrane organisms are known as eukaryotic. If the nucleus of the cell doesn't nuclear membrane then organisms are said to be prokaryotic.

hope it helps....

On the basis of presence and absence of nuclear membrane or complexity of cell structure, the classification of organisms is done into prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells because prokaryotic cells lack a well defined nucleus and most of the cell organelles and eukaryotic cells have a well defined nucleus and membrane bound cell organelles.
