Explanation:

i) Capacitor = It behaves like a battery(temporary). When ac is connected to the capacitor it stores the electric energy and when the circuit is removed the stored energy is dissipated.

ii) Inductor = As we know when the supply is ac the voltage source has two half cycle: positive and negative. when the inductor is connected to ac in the positive half cycle it stores the energy in the form of magnetic feild and in negative half cycle it releases this energy.
