a) When all the birds are faint with hot sun,
And hide in cooling trees, a voice will run
From hedge to hedge about the new-mown mead
b) She stood at the crossing and waited long,
Alone, uncared for, amid the thong
Of human beings who passed her by
Nor heeded the glance of her anxious eyes.
