The blood vessels are the part of thecirculatory system, and microcirculation, that transports blood throughout the human body. There are three major types of blood vessels: the arteries, which carry the blood away from the heart; the capillaries, which enable the actual exchange of water and chemicals between the blood and the tissues; and the veins, which carry blood from the capillaries back toward the heart. The wordvascular, meaning relating to the blood vessels, is derived from the Latin vas, meaning vessel. A few structures do not contain blood vessels and are labeled.
Function------Blood vessels function to transport blood.

Answer :

Blood Vessels :

 Blood moves around the body in special tubes called blood vessels .

 They are hollow tubes

 There are three types

1] Arteries

2] Veins

3] Capillaries

1] Arteries

 Arteries carry blood from heart to organ of body.

 Carry oxygenated blood .Exception : Pulmonary artery carry deoxygenated blood {From heart to lungs}

 Walls are thick and elastic { Blood pressure is high } and valve absent

 Arteries are three layered .their smaller branches are called arterious.

 deeply situated

2] Veins :

 Transport blood towards heart from organs

 Carry deoxegenated blood except – Pulmonary vein

 Walls are thin and less – elastic and blood pressure is low

 Value present and their branches called vevules

 Not deeply situated

3] Capillaries :

 Thin fibre like structure and single layered

 Carry both oxygenated and deoxegenated blood

 Help in exchange of gases in respiration process

 wall are thin
