  • the Brahmaputra rises from the snout of the Chemayungdung glacier of the Kailash range near Manasarovar...
  • it flows eastwards through southern Tibet
  • near Lhotse Dzong, it opens out into a wide navigable channel  for about 640 kms
  • thereafter, the river breaaks through a succession of rapids
  • it enters ina great loop southwest through Arunanchal Pradesh in India,,,,first as the Siang and then as the Dihang
  • Emerging into the Assam valley, it is joined by the two tributaries....THE DIBANG AND THE LOHIT
  • The river is known as the BRAHMAPUTRA from here
  • it is known as the Tsangpo in Tibet
