Explain the British periodization of Indian history. What was its significance in a study of modern India?
Answers
Answer:
The Britisher James Mill divided the Indian history into 3 periods on the basis of religion. The were :
1- The ancient period as the period of Hindus
2- The medeival period as Islamic period
3- The modern period as British or Christians
But this period division was wrong due to some reasons such as :
Though the Mughal had arrived but still there were many regional kingdoms ruled by Rajput kings!!!
Thus it wasn't accepted by Indian historian who later divided the history in a chronological manner :
Ancient, modern and medieval

Answer:
Explanation:
According to few historians, the British periodization of Indian history was incorrect because in the middle of nineteenth century British historians divided the history of India into three periods:"Hindu", "Muslim" and"British".This division was based on the idea that the religion of rulers was the only important historical change, and that there were no other significant developments- in the economy, society or culture . Such a division also ignored the rich diversity of the subcontinent.
