The main cause of water degradation is HUMAN ACTIVITIES.

WATER DEGRADATION refers to water pollution. The change in physical, chemical or biological constituents of water which causes harm to the microorganisms and the other living organisms residing in these water bodies is termed as water pollution.

There are many basic reasons for water pollution but the HUMAN ACTIVITIES tops the list.

  • Throwing of home waste into nearby water bodies
  • Throwing of industrial waste and harmful chemicals into the water bodies
  • The water used to cool down heavy and hot machines in the factories are also dumped into rivers or any nearby water bodies
  • Radioactive waste is also discharged into water

In short the basic reason for water pollution is human activities, We dump every single waste right from home waste to industrial waste, sewage, agricultural waste, oil waste everything into the water bodies.

METHODS TO CONTROL WATER DEGRADATION-

  • Sewage waste to be treated before letting it go to the water bodies
  • Chemicals use in the industries to be checked and these waste should also be treated before throwing it into water bodies
  • Use of pesticides and other chemicals to be avoided in agricultural fields
  • Medical waste should not be thrown in the water bodies
  • Plastic uses should be controlled
  • Recycling should be adopted
  • Oils should not be disposed into sink or in water bodies
  • Reuse of items should be done

IT IS IN OUR HANDS TO REDUCE OR INCREASE TIS WATER POLLUTION, IF WE WANT THIS CAN BE CHECKED AND WE CAN HAVE POLLUTION FREE WATER BODIES.
