In 1838, Matthias Schleiden and Schwann discovered cells in plants and animals respectively. Together they formulated the cell theory explaining that all living forms are made up of cells whether unicellular or multicellular.

Cell theory states that all living organisms are made of the cell which is either unicellular or multicellular. Cell serves as the functional unit of life as it involves in the formation of new cell and other cellular components that are essential for life processes.

The three principles of cell theory are as follows:

(a) Living organisms including plants and animals consist of one or more cells.

(b) The cell constitutes the functional and structural unit of life in all living organisms.

(c) All cells that are found in the body of unicellular and multicellular organisms are evolved from pre-existing cells

I hope this will help you dear..
