There are times when conditions are unfavorable for the ameoba to survive ( availability of food and such like things). In such an adverse condition the ameoba survives due to formation of cyst.
This cyst is a thick-walled structures and they are resistant to these unfavorable and harmful conditions which the ameoba has to go across.
This cyst can last several months and thus anabling the ameoba to survive in adverse conditions.
Once the unfavorable conditions are over this cyst can break out.
