The changes that were made to this public holiday that is the day of reconciliation:

  • It had been inaugurated in the year of 1995 to help the South Africans to heal from the horror events that occurred on the past and thereby promising for a shared future.
  • On the 16th of December 1995, it was changed again and celebrated as  "public holiday" called as "Day of Reconciliation".
