Characteristics of the North Indian Plain.


1. The North Indian Plains are consistently level plains of highly fertile and deep alluvial soil which increases in thickness from west to east.
2. They have a mild climate and a very gentle slope. The rivers flow slowly and form flood plains. Hence the soil is very fertile.
3. Because of high fertility, this region is agriculturally very important for the country.
4. The region is characterized by good infrastructureand economic development. So the density of population is very high in the region.

Northern Plains have been formed by the interplay of three major river systems namely the Indus the Ganga and Brahmaputra along with their tributaries ...it spreads up to 7 lakh km

•AGRICULTURE

The deposition of Alluvial soil b y these rivers make it fertile plain which is very helpful for agriculture

•WATER AVAILABILITY

As the three major perennial rivers from the himalayas the Indus the Ganga and the Brahmaputra flow through this plain so there is rich availability of water as there is plenty of water this water is used for irrigation purpose and also for fishing

•TRANSPORTATION

As this land is flat the construction of roads and railway network is easy so there is a wide variety of transportation

And it has a vast land area which helps to develop the transportation facility

•CLIMATE

As many plants grow in this region the plants lose water through transpiration so the motion content of the air is moderate which maintains the moderate climate
