there are 4 major types of reaction
1. Combination reaction:
In combination reaction two reactants combine to give one new product.
ex : mg+O2---> mgO
2. Decomposition reaction:-
In decomposition reaction the single reactant decomposes to give two or more elements or new compound.
ex: h2O---electrolysis--> h2+O2
3. Displacement reaction:-
Displacement reaction is a chemical reaction in which a more reactive element displaces a less reactive element from its compound. Both metals and non-metals take part in displacement reaction.
Ex : Fe+CuSO4-----> feSO4+ Cu
4. Double Displacement reaction:
A Double displacement reaction , also known as a double replacement reaction or metathesis, is a type of chemical reaction where two compounds react , and the positive ions (cation) and the negative ions (anion) of the two reactants switch places, forming two new compounds or products.
ex: Na2SO4 + BaCl ----> BaSO4 + NaCl
