Explain the cleansing action of Soaps & Detergents.

The cleaning effect of detergent is more attractive because of present of Ca²+& mg²+ present in hard water. This ions remain in the water so more quantity of detergent is not used. The cleaning effect of water and detergent is same.

There are two parts (1) non polar head which possess attraction towards dirt and stain while (2) polar head which possess attraction towards water molecules.
