Collectivisation was a policy of forced consolidation of small landholdings of poor farmers and laborers.

It was introduced by Joseph Stalin.

He believed that low supplies of food grains was due to the small size of landholdings.

However, the production did not increase due to collectivisation.

Many who were against collectivisation were severely punished.

Explanation:

Stalin introduced a major transformation in agriculture through the means of Collectivization. This system was enacted to improve the production of agricultural goods. In this system, the small landholding of peasants was merged into a large estate. In this way, the large estate came to be known as kolkhoz. This system was implemented to all the peasants however, some of them were left independent, but were treated

unsympathetically.
