Composite fish culture includes both local and important species of fishes.
In this different type of fishes are kept in a single pond.
Catlas are surface feeders.
Rohu are middle zone feeders.
And Mrigals, and common carp are bottom feeders. While Greengrass carp fishes are weeders which fed on weeds.
ADVANTAGES:--
1.All food is utilised without wastage.
2.No competition of food as all depends on different type of food.
3.Increase fish yield from the pond.
Disadvantages:--
Many fish breed only during monsson. Even if fish seed is collected from the wild,it can be mixed with that of other species. So, there is lack of availability of good quality seeds.
This can be worked out to breed fish in ponds using hormonal stimulation.
Hope it helps!
