In general terms, " Isoenzymes " can be defined as the enzymes having similar properties but different molecular weights.

  • The enzymes which possess slightly different molecular structure but perform identical activities are also known as " Isoenzymes ".

  • Some enzymes have several molecular forms i.e., 16 for α - amylase (alpha - amylase) and 5 for Lactate Dehydrogenase (L.D.H).

  • " Lactate Dehydrogenase " (L.D.H) is the isoenzyme which plays an conversion of Pyruvic acid into Lactic acid.
