Story of the maximum people… when a child is of 2 years old…may be he think that his father is the strongest person of the world. He grow up and go to college…he think that his father and he are good friends and any work can be done with their cooperation. He grow a little more….began to think this was he who done all thing for himself and he is perhaps superior to his father.

The same story is happened with the human & environment relationship.

Early civilization:— People accepted the superiority of the environment. Some worshipped it. And they did not do anything which was as a breach to environmental limits. Means every activity of the early person was determined by the environment. Like—-Living in jungle, cut only those trees which was dry, rivers decided the settlement pattern, topography decided the livelihood activities….etc etc.

This is called Determinism.

The era of early human development:— when human discovered the wheel like woods and stones, fire, and sharp weapons, he established the relationship of cooperation with the environment.

Even with and after the Agricultural revolution, he was in cooperation with the environment.

Like— cultivation of water intensive crops in intensive rain fed areas, Plantation agriculture in hilly areas, animal rearing in non agricultural and steppes like areas.

After Industrial revolution:—- here when man started to invent technologies, he began to modify their surroundings. He began to think that he is superior than the environment.

This tendency gave birth to the concepts like Possibilism and its extreme form voluntarism.

Like—use of Green house effect in cold areas to grow plants there, heavy expliotation of natural resources for their monolateral growth etc.

Present era of going back to our ‘aukaat’ (limit):—- when nature show its dominance on the earth in form of doing plain the humanistic landscapes through Earth quake, landslide, floods, cloud bursts etc, gradually man understood his limit. Man understood that he can regulate the environment only on a little scope. He can only direct the natural phenomenas but cannot control it. He is not controller but cooperator and can only act as a traffic police.

Like—-he can make Shelter belts but cannot check the heavy river streams, he can make dams but cannot check the floods and heavy rains.

This new generated tendency is called Neo-determinism or Stop & Go determinism.

The concept was given by Griffith taylor to explain the human limit after the concept of Allen C. Sample (determinism). This was more for convince the possibilistic thinkers like V. De La Blache and scholars of his La Vidaliane..
