Explain the condition of colonial economy in Vietnam?

the economy of Vietnam was mainly based on rice cultivation and rubber owned by french and a small Vietnamese elite.rail and port facilities were set up to service these sectors

indentured labour was used in rubber plantations

the french did very little to develop industries. tn rural areas the landlord-ism spread and the living standards declined

high population levels,low agricultural productivity and extensive indebtedness among-st peasants were the barriers to economic growth 

industrialization could ensure better employment
