The French Revolution is a very devastating event in global history. It lasted from 1789 - 1799. Being a watershed event it had its consequences, they are as follows:

  • The French Revolution ended the 400 years old the French dynasty, the Bourbon Dynasty. Finally, the monarchy was abolished in France in 1792 and a republican form of government was established.
  • Land ownership was changed and the taxes charged by the landlords were also abolished.
  • Capitalism became the new economic system and all privileged classes were abolished.
  • The idea of social equality and socialism became prominent. Slavery was abolished in the French colonies. All the working class was given political rights in 1792.

There were other consequences too, these were some of the popular ones.
