Conservation of energy is a fundamental concept in which total energy is constant in isolated system., it means energy is neither destroyed nor created. However it can change its forms.
Now, the most common example of conservation of energy is simple pendulum, where friction is kept zero and mechanical energy is conserved.
And mechanical energy comprises of Gravitational potential energy and Kinetic energy. When pendulum moves forward and backwards , the energy convertion takes place continuously between Kinetic energy and Gravitational potential energy.
