For this reason this thermometer is called clinical thermometer or doctor's thermometer. Construction: It consists of a cylindrical bulb B which is filled with mercury. A capillary tube T of uniform and fine bore is attached to the bulb. Just above the bulb at point C the tube is made narrow and bent.

The mercury thermometer is made up of glass tube and Mercury in which , the mercury is put inside the glass tube and air is sucked up to create vaccum and a type of twist near the bulb is made which is known as kink to stop the mercury from falling down before we read and then labels are marked(celsius/Fahrenheit).
