Hey mate here is ur ans...

A basic voltaic cell is created by immersing in a diluted solution of sulfuric acid a zinc plate and a copper plate. A voltaic cell is an electrochemical cell that produces electrical energy using a chemical reaction. The reactions to oxidation and reduction are divided into half-cell compartments.

Concept:

★ If zinc rod is dipped in copper sulphate Solution. The redox reaction takes place and during the reaction, zinc is oxidized to zinc ions and copper ions are reduced to metallic copper due to direct transfer of electrons from zinc to copper ion. During this reaction heat is also involved.

Construction:

• We take copper sulphate solution in a beaker and put a copper strip or rod in it.

• We also take zinc sulphate solution in another beaker and put a zinc rod in it.

• Now, reaction takes place in either of the beaker and at the interface of the metal and its solution in each beaker both the reduced and oxidized form of the same spices present. These represent the species in the reduction half reactions.

• Now, we put the beaker containing zinc sulphate solution and copper sulphate solution side by side.

• We connect solutions in two beakers by a salt bridge.

• The zinc and copper rods are connected by a metallic wire with a provision for an ammeter and a switch.

• The set- up is called Daniel cell.

Reactions:

• Zinc is oxidized-

\sf{Zn\longrightarrow\:Zn^{2+}+2e^{-}}

• Copper is reduced-

\sf{Cu^{2+}+2e^{-}\longrightarrow\:Cu}
