The Indian Rebellion of 1857 is also called the Indian Mutiny, the SepoyMutiny, North India's First War of Independence or North India's first struggle for independence. It began on 10 May 1857 at Meerut, as a mutiny of sepoys of the British East India Company's army.

there were many causes for the revolt of 1857 ..the first cause was
1 political causes
2 Disrespect shown to Bhahadur shah
3 grievence of nana saheb and rani laxmi bhai
4 absentee sovernity
5 general service enlistment act
6 drain of wealth ................and so the following
they did not succed in getting complete independence because of
1 lack of a common cause
2 begining of the revolt before the fixed time
3 lack of joining of the mass
but they succeded in ending companies rule and india was being ruled from british from england was a major achievement of this revil
