Mendel cross in flower

Explanation:

  • Suppose white is dominant over purple flowers ..
  • WW  *  pp  ( genotypic ratio )
  • white  *  purple  ( phenotypic ratio )
  • W  *  p   ( gamates )
  •  Wp ....( white flower as dominant is expressed )
  • Selfin
  • Wp  *  Wp
  • white  *  white
  • W * p  *  W *  p
  • WW : Wp : Wp : pp
  • 3 : 1 ( white : purple ) F2 = phenotypic ratio
  • 1 : 2 : 1 ( white : impure white : purple )  F2 = genotypic ratio
  • i.e; ....... b) white : purple is  3 : 1
  • And then the genotypes were  white , impure white , purple in the ratio 1 : 2 : 1
