Explanation:
The Earth is tilted such that it’s South Pole and North Pole don’t face ‘true’ North and South.
What this means in practice is that the Sun’s intensity differs based on which hemisphere is facing it as the Earth orbits the Sun.
When the Southern Hemisphere is tilted towards the Sun, it is Summer down there and Winter in the Northern Hemisphere. Likewise, when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted towards the Sun, it is Summer up there and Winter in the Southern Hemisphere.
Spring and Autumn are the transition periods between the points at which each hemisphere is tilted towards the Sun.
This may also help and is from the perspective of the Northern Hemisphere.
