Human contributions to greenhouse gases in the atmosphere are warming the earth's surface - a process which is projected to increase evaporation of surface water and accelerate the hydrologic cycle. In turn, a warmer atmosphere can hold more water vapour.

ANSWER: global warming could further affect the hydrologic cycle by the melting of ice and snow in the greenlandsand Antarctic ice caps and in mountains glaciers, resulting in the transfer of water to the oceans. ... melting of all glacial ice would raise sea level more than 66 metres (about 216 feets).
