the difference between both 2N and N2 above is just a slight difference.

2N is known to be the two molecules of Nitrogen atom, and whereas N2 means two atoms of nitrogen is present in one molecule.

As the number is written in the subscript of the element so it represents’ atoms, and the number in the starting represents molecules.

2N means two molecules of Nitrogen atoms.N2 means two atoms of Nitrogen in its one molecule.N2 shows that two nitrogen are bounded with covalent bonds and it becomes nitrogen gas whereas 2N does not show any bond , it just shows two number of nitrogen...
Hope this helps.
