Characteristics of Image Formed by Plane, Concave and Convex Mirror:

1. Plane Mirror:

The image formed by plane mirror is at the same distance as that of the distance of an object and is of the same size. Also the imaged formed are virtual, upright and left-right reversed. One of the important characteristics of images formed by plane mirror is that the dimensions of the image are the same as that of the dimensions of an object.

2. Concave Mirror:

Concave mirror produces both real and virtual images. If the image is real then it is inverted and is found infront of the mirror. However, if the image is virtual, then it is upright and is found behind the mirror. Also the size of the image can be smaller, larger or of the same size as that of an object.

3. Convex Mirror:

The image formed by convex mirror is virtual, upright and is located behind the mirror. The size of the image is smaller as compared to the size of an object.

Answer:

If the image formed is sometimes inverted, real and diminished, sometimes inverted, real and the same size as the object and sometimes is upright, virtual and enlarged. Then it is a concave lens. If the image formed is always upright, virtual and diminished, then it is a convex mirror.
