:- Instantaneous speed is the exact speed that a body is moving at, at a given instant in time. ... An average speed tells you how much distance a body covers during a certain time span, but it does not tell you much about the actual motion that occurred

Answer:

Actual speed/Instantaneous speed  : it is the distance traveled by body at particular instant of time .

Average speed : It is the total distance traveled by body in total time taken.

Explanation:

  • Suppose we are travelling to Delhi from chandigarh .It is approximately 250Km run from Chandigarh .
  • Lets say ,we started with 50Km/hr speed and then after some time ,there was a traffic on road so the speed got reduced to 25km/hr .Then speed goes on changing with time as sometimes the road was smooth and with less traffic and sometimes the road wasn't smooth and traffic was there .
  • So,let us say that we noticed the speed at particular moment and it was approx. 40km/hr at that instant .So, it is an actual or instantaneous speed .
  • Now ,let us say that we reach Delhi in 5 hours and after reaching we calculated that how much time was actually taken to cover the entire 250Kms That is : Average speed = Total distance /Total time taken

Average speed = 250Km/5hr=50Km/hr .
