The idea of demography basically deals with the concept of concentration of people in a certain region.

That part of the demography that deals with the concept of measurement and calculation, and also components of population change, is called formal demography.

On the other hand, the one that deals with wider causes and consequences and social interaction between the population structures is called the social demography.
