Explain the difference between instantaneous rate of a reaction and average rate of a reaction.

The average rate is the average of instantaneous rate over a period of time during the reaction . ... On the other hand, the instantaneous rate is the rate at a particular instant of time during the reaction. It is determined by taking the slope of the line tangent to the curve at that instant or point.
