The difference between interlaced and non-interlaced monitors are as follows:

  • The electron beam in an interlaced monitor makes two runs to generate a complete image: it skips every other row on the first run, then returns to fill in the gaps.
  • A non-interlaced monitor completes the task in a single run, tracing each row in order.
  • Interlaced displays are easier to manufacture and thus less expensive, however, they aren't as excellent as non-interlaced monitors.
