oxidation means add of oxygen loss of hydrogen loss of elctron...and oxidation number the sum of oxidation number in a polyatomic ions is equal to charge of ions...for eg oxygen o number is -2 and valency means combining capacity of electron. ...for eg carbon....atomic number is 6...and valency is 4.
