In a physical change the appearance or form of the matter changes but the kind of matter in the substance does not. However in a chemical change, the kind of matter changes and at least one new substance with new properties is formed.Salt will always melt ice quicker than both of them. This is because in the same amount or volume, there are more molecules of salt than sugar or baking soda due to the chemical make-up. Salt, baking soda, and sugar will all act to lower the freezing point of the ice, making it melt quicker than the untouched ice cube.

For example: Dissolving of salt or sugar in water, drying of wet clothes, tearing of paper etc.

Chemical change is a change with the help of or more substances makes a new substance which is different the reactants.

For example: Corrosion, burning of wood or paper etc.
