As a little boy, Mandela thought of freedom as being free to run around his mother's hut and his village. This notion of freedom changed for him when he turned into a young man as he found out that he was not actually free. The freedom of all black people in South Africa had been taken away by the white supremacy. He wanted the freedom to work, to marry and have a family.
