The main difference between both the sentences is that of the function of the word ‘than’.

1) In the first sentence the word ‘than’ does the work of conjunction because it joins two sentences together; as,

He loves you more than I (love you).

Here, two sentences are joined together; as,

He loves you more than I love you.

2) In the second sentence the word ‘than’ does the work of a preposition because it shows the relationship between two pronouns (you and me); as,

He loves you more than me.
