Melting is the process in which a solid changes into a liquid form by absorbing heat from the surroundings. Freezing is the process in which a liquid changes into solid by leaving it's heat in the surroundings.

An example of melting is when an ice cube melts when exposed to the sun and changed from solid to liquid. An example of freezing is the changing of water to ice when kept in the freezer.
