The atmosphere is comprised of layers based on temperature. These layers are the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere and thermosphere. A further region at about 500 km above the Earth's surface is called the exosphere.

\fbox\red{ What is Atmosphere? }

• The atmosphere is a thin layer of gases that surrounds the Earth.

• It seals the planet and protect us from the vaccum of space.

• Our atmosphere makes life possible on our planet.

The Atmosphere is made up of 5 different layers -

1. Troposphere - The troposphere is where all the weather occur. it is the closest layer to the Earth surface. it is the layer we live in. higher altitude = colder temps.

2. Stratosphere - The stratosphere is the 2nd layer of the atmosphere above the troposphere ranging from about 20 km to 50 km altitude. Ozone Layer lies in stratosphere.

3. Mesosphere - The mesosphere lies directly above the stratosphere. this is where meteors and comets are destroyed. Coldest Layer ( higher altitude = colder temps).

4. Thermosphere - The thermosphere occurs from 85 to 500 kilometres from the surface of the earth. the atmospheric layer is called the upper atmosphere. the thermosphere contains the layers of gases which absorb the much of the sun's light.

5. Exosphere - The exosphere is the most outer layer of the earth. gradually fades into the vaccum of space. the air of exosphere is very thin and is made up of mostly helium and hydrogen.

Hope it helps you.
