Different methods of irrigation

Explanation:

  • Crops require water for their growth and development , the process of supplying water to the crops is called irrigation.
  • The frequency , rate, and amount of irrigation are different for different crops it depends on the type of crops and seasons.
  • There are two different methods of irrigation.
  • Traditional methods- use of water by farmer from canals and wells , efficiency of this method is poor , other traditional methods are pulley system, lever system, chain pump etc.
  • Modern methods- these methods are more advance and efficient , it includes sprinkler system( sprinkling of water over crop) , drip system (water supply is done  drop by drop exactly at roots using a pipe).
