love glucose is breakdown in the three different situation in the cytoplasm but firstly it is converted into pyruvate which is a three carbon molecule and then it is further breakdown in the following process :-

In absence of Oxygen

in the absence of oxygen like that in yeast the glucose is breakdown into energy and other by product which are ethanol carbon dioxide and energy but in this type of glucose breakdown the energy is in very small amount.

In lack amount of oxygen

when the oxygen is in less amount during the glucose breakdown as which happens in our muscle cell the the glucose is breakdown into lactic acid and energy.

In presence of oxygen

glucose is breakdown in the presence of oxygen there is energy released in a very high amount and other than this the byproduct formed are water carbon dioxide.

in all the type of glucose breakdown the energy is released in form of ATP
