These stages are prophase, prometaphase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. Duringmitosis, the chromosomes, which have already duplicated, condense and attach to spindle fibers that pull one copy of each chromosome to opposite sides of the cell. The result is two genetically identical daughter nuclei.
