Answer:
There are 4 types of drainage patterns on the basis of their flowing pattern-dendritic, trellis, radial and rectangular. dendritic-this pattern resembles branches of trees. ex, the indo-gangetic plains. trellis-in this pattern tributaries join the main rivers at right angles.
➟ The different types of drainage pattern are :-
➝ Trellis Drainage pattern : This pattern is formed by the network of tributaries and distributaries that follow the regional slope of the land and are adjusted by the nature of underlying rocks.
➝ Dendritic Drainage pattern : This tree shaped drainage pattern is commonly found in the mountains and hilly areas and on extensive plateau surface like in the deccan plateau. It is most extensive in the basin of Krishna, kaveri,Mahanadi and Godavari river.
➝ Radial Drainage pattern : In this pattern, the river tend to flow from a central higher points in all directions like the spokes of a cycle wheel. For Example the Hazaribagh plateau of Jharkhand have given birth to the radial drainage pattern.
➝ Rectangular Drainage pattern : The rectangular drainage pattern develops on strongly joined rock.It is associated with inland drainage usually found in the arid area likes these of western rajasthan.
