The 2 main types of friction are as follows:
- Static Friction
- Dynamic Friction
Static Friction:
It is the Friction against the applied force when the body is stationary. This friction keeps the body stationary .
With increase in applied force, the static Friction increases and finally reaches a critical value
Dynamic Friction:
It is the Friction experienced when the body starts moving. It is slightly less than that of critical static Friction.
This is because during motion, the contact between the body and the surface doesn't occur effectively.
Dynamic Friction is constant in value.
