These joints can be described as planar, hinge, pivot, condyloid, saddle, or ball-and-socket joints. Figure 1. Different types of joints allow different types of movement. Planar, hinge, pivot, condyloid, saddle, and ball-and-socket are all types of synovial joints.
Saddle Joint :-
the saddle joint is shaped like a horse's saddle and allows movement into direction - like the joint which joints your thumb to your wrist.
Hinge Joint :-
Hinge joint moves in one direction, opening and closing like a hinge - like the joint found in your knees, elbows, fingers and toes.
Ball and Socket Joint :-
the ball and socket joint moves Like the joystick of a computer allowing movement in almost all direction the balls the top of the femur fitting into the socket of the hip is a good example.
Plane Joint :-
the plane joint is where the surfaces of bones are almost flat allowing is gliding movement as in the joints of the ankles breast and the spinal vertebrae
